Here are more pictures from the Vernon High School Sports Banquet, put on by the Vernon Athletic Booster Club, was held Tuesday night in the VHS Cafeteria. All varsity athletes were recognized and several sports handed out special awards. The Vernon Athletic Booster Club Lion Scholarship was presented to Dane Kieschnick, while the Lady Lion Scholarship was presented to Kristina Urista and the Benny Guzman Memorial Scholarship was presented to Beau Gearld.

The Roarin' Lion Band Banquet was held Saturday night and several awards were presented to band members. Recipients of the band's special awards were (from left) Nakayla Whatley, Outstanding WinterGuard; Garrett Sparks, John Phillip Sousa Award; Harley Fulford, Outstanding Sophomore; Electra Boatman, Outstanding Marcher; Elide Corona, Outstanding Junior; Fernanda Perez, Outstanding Marcher; Mu Lay Paw, Outstanding Freshman; and Kristina Urista, Outstanding Senior.

Here are a few more scenes from our 5th grade Egg Drop event held this afternoon. Congratulations to the students whose egg survived the drops from 10 feet, 30 feet and 50 feet, and a BIG thank you to the members of the AEP crew who came out and helped with the event. We couldn't do it without you!!









The Egg Drop event for 5th graders was held this afternoon. The project involved 5th graders building containers that would keep an egg safe when dropped from different heights. With help from members of the AEP crew, the eggs were dropped from heights of 10 feet, 30 feet and 50 feet. The project helps the students learn about force, gravity, energy and air resistance.











The 2023-24 Vernon Middle School cheerleaders will make their debut Wednesday afternoon in the Santa Rosa Roundup Parade. Next year's cheerleaders include (starting at top row, from left) Natalie Martinez, Olivia Hawkins, Trista Lehman, Ava Lagunas, Arianna Granados, Blakeney Downes, Malaya Fanner, Elizabeth Patterson, Evalynn Hall, and Amari Garcia. The First Grade Track Meet wrapped up with a tug-of-war challenge. Earning bragging rights this year was Mrs. Audrey Wrinkle's class -- the blue team. They defeated the red team and then took down the coral team in the championship battle.

Well the weather didn't cooperate for our First Grade Track Meet this morning, but being in D.O. Fulton Gym didn't dampen the spirits of our students. They had fun with the egg race, sack race, softball toss and more!
