This morning, VES students were greeted by a couple of special visitors who were there to encourage the students as start their first day of STAAR testing.

As part of Monday's review day for the STAAR test, students were able to move through several different review stations. Today was the first day of STAAR testing.

Yesterday, VES students selected one word to motivate them during the STAAR test, which starts today. After selecting their one word, they made a bracelet with that word on it to wear while they are testing.

On Monday, our VES 5th grade students put their art skills to work and decorated the walkways leading to the entrances to the school. The affirmations and encouraging words were there to greet all the students this morning as they start their STAAR testing.

All eyes were turned to the sky -- with correct protective glasses of course -- this afternoon as students and adults watched the solar eclipse. Luckily, the clouds stayed away and was a perfect day to watch the moon cross in front of the sun.
