After last week's presidential election, students in Mrs. Courtney Jansas's 3rd grade class were curious about the election and presidency. They had ideas to vote for a class leader and they also wanted to create posters as if they were running for president. Mrs. Jansa turned their classroom into a voting area yesterday. There was a voting section with dividers; voting signs were posted; students created their own ID card and presented it when they went to vote; they received a ballot; turned in the ballot; and received a sticker for voting. On the ballot for the class leader, students had to give an example as to why the student they were voting for should be elected the class leader.

Two of Mrs. Melissa Inman's 4th grade students, Camila Alvarado and Camila Parmer, attended the VISD Board of Trustees meeting earlier this week and presented their Native American Indian Diorama projects. The project also called for them to research their tribe and present that information on a powerpoint. The two students presented that research as well.

Last Thursday, our 4th grade students conducted the Runaway Pumpkin STEM Investigation in the gym. The objective of the project was for a student to roll a pumpkin down the slide with a enough force for it to roll into the box held by their partner. The activity helps extend the students' knowledge of force, motion, friction, and gravity.
