Introducing the man behind the great campus of T. G. McCord Elementary.

Here is the VISD Cafeteria menu for September. Remember all VISD students receive free breakfast and lunch through the their campus cafeteria.

Good Morning, McCord Parents and Guardians! To ensure the safety and quick retrieval of your students during our early releases, we have amended our release times. Times are as follows: Pre - K - 12:00pm, Kindergarten - 12:10pm, 1st grade - 12:15pm. Buses leave McCord around 12:10pm.

Tonight is the Summer's Last Splash, so come beat the heat at the city pool in honor of McCord's Care Closet Program and hosted by Kiwanis Club of Vernon!
Ideal donations would be kids body wash, hair detangler, shampoo and conditioner, hair brushes, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.

This Friday is an Early Release Friday for the district. Please note that Vernon High School dismisses classes at 12:10 p.m., however buses will not run at the high school until 12:45 p.m.. This allows those students who have "B" lunch and ride the bus time to eat lunch at school.

McCord Parents/Guardians,
When dropping off your students in the morning and it is after 8:05am, you must come in to the school with them to sign your student in as they are considered tardy after 8:05am. Three tardies are equivalent to one absence.
Your child's safety and attendance is very important to us at McCord as we strive to provide the best education and a safe environment to learn.

Vernon ISD has started using a new program for parents and teachers to have an extra avenue of communication. This program is called Rooms and is hosted by a company named Thrillshare. Some of our parents have already started accessing Rooms but we have a lot of questions regarding the platform. This is totally expected with anything that is new. We have created a webpage with FAQ's for parents along with some helpful videos. You can find that page here: https://bit.ly/VISDParentRooms
If you have additional questions about Rooms after looking at the webpage, please feel free to email chantilly.sweet@visdtx.org.

In his latest community message, Vernon ISD Supt. Dr. Kermit Ward reports the Vernon ISD tax cut could save Vernon homeowners hundreds of dollars.
"Each August brings about newfound energy and excitement amongst educators as we get kids back in our buildings. Also occurring every August is the work to set a new budget for the school year and the tax rate that will support that budget. Our CFO, Clay Montgomery has carefully and consistently worked on this over the entire summer and we realized early on that something rare and amazing was about to happen."
